How Med Spa Verification Works
We compare the clinicians your clinic publicly names with available state professional licensing records and federal provider records. There is no application fee and verification cannot be purchased.
What Your Website Needs to Show
- A full name. First and last. “Elizabeth Smith, RN” can be checked; “Liz, RN” usually cannot.
- The credential. RN, APRN, FNP-C, PA-C, MD, DO. Written out in words is fine; we read both.
- The role. Say what each person does. A medical director is not necessarily one of the clinicians performing treatments.
- A public page we can reach. A team, provider or about page. Not an image, not a PDF, not behind a booking widget.
- The location, if you have more than one. Say which address each clinician works at. We do not assign clinicians to locations without evidence.
What Verified Injector Checks
We read the clinic's own website, identify the clinicians it publicly names, and check each one who holds a medical or nursing credential, or whom the clinic calls Dr., against the state licensing board's records. Staff without a medical or nursing credential, such as aestheticians, are not checked. We do not verify anyone the clinic does not name.
- Your clinic's website: Who your clinic names, their credentials and the role it states for each.
- The federal NPI Registry (NPPES): Identity and taxonomy. Identity information only; it never decides license status.
- The state licensing board: License, status and expiration. This is what decides the result.
- Location evidence: Which address a clinician is associated with, where your website says so.
Possible Verification Results
Each result is worded here exactly as a clinic’s own record words it, where the checks it mentions are listed under the status.
- Verified
A clinic is Verified when every clinician it names whom we check matches a current state license, someone it names matches a physician license, and someone it names is not named only as the medical director, unless the only clinician the clinic names is a physician who is not listed as medical director at another practice. Two more rules apply where a clinic names an aesthetician or has two to five addresses.
- Every clinician we check matches a current license. Every clinician it names whom we check was searched and matched to a current, active record at the state licensing board, checked within the last 120 days. We check everyone it names with a medical or nursing credential, and everyone it calls Dr. A credential the national registry or a state register supplied for that person counts here beside one the clinic printed. A clinician we could not match, or could not search, holds the clinic at Partly checked.
- A physician license is matched. Someone it names is matched to a physician license, whether or not the clinic prints MD or DO beside that person's name, and whether or not the clinic prints a credential for them at all. A nurse practitioner or physician assistant titled medical director is not counted as the physician. A job title makes nobody a physician; a physician license does.
- Not only a medical director. Someone it names is not named only as the medical director (a clinician whose role is not stated counts). A physician matched to a physician license who is the only clinician the clinic names counts here even when named only as the medical director, unless that physician is listed as medical director at another practice. A physician listed as medical director at more than one practice is not counted as the injector at any clinic. One physician can meet the first three rules.
- Aestheticians. Where a clinic names an aesthetician, facial specialist or cosmetologist, that person counts as checked only if the clinic prints a medical or nursing credential for them or the national registry identified them; a license matched to their name alone is not enough. A clinic naming one who is not checked that way is Verified only if it also names a nurse.
- Clinics with two to five addresses. Where a clinic has two to five addresses and its website does not say which address each clinician works at, each address is judged on its own state's records: every clinician listed there whom we check must match a current license in that state, whatever another state's records say, and a physician must match one there. A physician the website names whom no register in any state identified is not listed at an address and does not count against it.
- Partly checked
- We matched some of what your site publishes and not all of it. The checks below say which, in the source's own words. A gap here is usually a register we cannot read rather than anything about your clinic.
- Not yet checked
- We have not been able to check this listing yet. That is a statement about our work, not about your clinic, and it is where most of the directory starts. Naming your clinicians on your own website, with their credentials, is what lets us check.
- Checked, and it did not match
- A check did not match. The rows below say which one and what the source said. If the source is wrong about you, tell us: correcting something we published is free, always.
What We Will Not Guess
- We do not verify anyone your website does not name.
- We do not assign a clinician to a location without evidence that they work there.
- We do not treat a job title as a credential: a physician license makes someone a physician, a title does not.
- We do not publish an adverse finding taken from a cached file. If a register suggests a license has lapsed, a person confirms it live before anything appears.
- We do not mark a record Verified when a register cannot be read. It goes to manual review instead.
Corrections and Rechecks
Records are rechecked each time we refresh that state's license register data, and each checked record shows the date it was last checked. If we got something wrong, correcting it is free: correct a record, or read how rechecks work.
Questions About Verification
What does Verified Injector check?
Verified Injector checks the clinicians a medical spa publicly names against the federal NPI registry and the applicable state licensing board. Depending on the clinician and state, a record can show license type, status, expiration, NPI number, NPI primary specialty, the role the clinic states, and the medical director when one is identified. Not every data point is available for every clinician or state.
Does Partly checked or Not yet checked mean a clinic is unlicensed?
No. Partly checked and Not yet checked mean Verified Injector could not confirm a match between a clinician the clinic publicly names and a current state license record, or the clinic does not publicly name a credentialed clinician. Neither is a finding that anyone is unlicensed.
What is a named clinician?
A named clinician is a clinician a medical spa publicly identifies on its own website. Being named does not mean the clinician has been matched to a license record; each record shows the match result separately.
Does Verified Injector verify medical directors?
Yes, when the clinic identifies one. Verified Injector matches the medical director against state license records the same way it matches any named clinician. Legal requirements for med spa supervision and medical direction vary by state.
How current is the information?
Verified Injector rechecks a record each time it refreshes that state's license register data, and state licensing agencies publish their updates on different schedules. Each checked record shows the date it was last checked. For time-sensitive decisions, confirm current license status directly with the state licensing board.
Does Verified status mean a medical spa provides good care?
No. Verified status confirms that specific license information matched public records on the check date shown. It does not evaluate treatment quality, clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, or the conduct of a clinic or clinician. License information is one part of choosing a provider.

Put the Verified Injector Badge on Your Website
If your clinic is Verified, show it on your own website. The badge links patients to your live record, the evidence behind your status, for $29/month. Verification itself is free, and the badge never changes a status or where your clinic appears.
